It came to our surprise that our senior member, Rotarian Diah Ratnadewi who had been active as Rotary Club Bogor member since 2005 get recognized as Paul Harris Fellow for her commitment in contributing EREY (Every Rotarian Every Year) to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) . EREY is a commitment made by a Rotarian member to contribute at least $100 every year to the Annual Share Funds. As Paul Harris Fellow is a recognition when this Rotarian finally made $1,000 cumulatively since they first started giving contribution. Rtn. Diah happens to manage it and Rotary International sent her the PHF certificate as well as the famous Paul Harris Fellow pin. Now, she is entitled to put a PHF title behind her name as Rotarian. We are inside the Rotary Club Bogor, are truly honored by her kind generous act in order to support the club. This is also the first PHF recognition that the club received since chartered day. Hoping that Rtn. Diah action will be followed by other Bogor club members also in the future. Again, congratulations Rtn. Diah Ratnadewi, PHF. We are very totally proud of you!! Paul Harris Fellow certificate presented by our VP Dirk Jan Kleijn, and Paul Harris Fellow pin was pinned by Club President Gabrielle Tan. Witnessed by Club Treasurer Rochmah Chamim. January 9, 2018.

(copyright: gv/rid6647213) Having 30 Years Anniversary, Rotary Club Bogor finally manage to gather fellow Rotarians from District 3410 Indonesia to celebrate together last Saturday, July 15th, 2017 in Megamendung Puncak, Bogor.
About 50s Rotarians with friends and family attended dressed up ala Cowboy Western style, as the main theme of the party, were having a blast fun moments, lunch together and shares each other stories. Rotary Club Bogor been away from fellowship events for quite some years due to its remote location in Bogor, compared to other neighboring clubs which concentrated in Jakarta downtown areas. Therefore this moment feels like a long time reunion with other fellow Rotarians. As Past President Trisna Purbojo mentioned, as a chartered member of Rotary Club Bogor, who has been in the club for 30 years, he said that meeting his old fellow Rotarian AG Pradhana Hardjosubroto was really a pleasant rare surprise and he never forget the time when they worked together in the old club project. District Governor Sam Radjiman, who was our main guest during the event, really put a light up to the event by using the moment to "Pin Up" the new 2017-2018 Rotary Theme Nametag "Making A Difference" to the top District Officers; DG Elect 2018-2019 Raju Dansingani, DG Nominee 2019-2020 Yusuf Djemat, PDG 2015-2016 Hidayat Tjokrodjojo, DDG Roziana Wiguna, AG Pradhana Hardjosubroto and AG Betty Abalos. Another moment are pinning up the new 2017-2018 Club Presidents from Club Jakarta Cilandak, Pres. Fred Kilgore and Club Jakarta Gambir, Pres. Deddy Riyadi. PDG Mustain Sjadzali, from Club Jakarta Cinere, also did Bogor Club a wonderful favor, by becoming a Key Note Speaker sharing tips on how Bogor can be great Club inside Rotary. The 30th Anniversary candle moment, lead by IPP Jan Kleijn along with last year 2016-2017 Board Member, PP Taufik Setya Nugraha and senior Rtn. Diah Ratnadewi. Accompany by the Chartered member PP Trisna Purbojo, PP George Mulya and PP Till Freyer. We are so lucky that this Anniversary moments brought back Bogor Club Past Presidents, who had been away for many years; PP George Mulya and PP Till Freyer, who were Past Presidents in the past played an important roles geared up big projects like Clean Water project. Another special guest who came was Vice President from our sister club, Rotary Club Queenstown Singapore, PP Hans Jaeger. Pres. Fred Kilgore from Club Jakarta Cilandak was also getting another treat during the event as that day turns out also his birthday, he was getting special slice birthday cake from Bogor Club Pres. Gabrielle and a birthday songs from the guests. Beside the Anniversary, it was also the moment of Board Change Over to installed the new 2017-2018 Rotary Club Bogor Board Officers; Club President Gabrielle V. Tan along with new Club Secretary Rachmi Wulandari Sitanggang and new Club Treasurer Rochmah Chamim Kleijn (who also happens to be the spouse of IPP Jan Kleijn). In those moments, some Rotarians talked about the ideas of joining hands together for the next incoming projects that likely Club Bogor would like to support. These opportunities brings new insights to Club Bogor for us to start Making A Difference in Rotary and be a real vibrant Rotary Club. We are from Rotary Club Bogor, sends many gratitude to all the Rotarian fellows, friends and family. We really touched by the high passions came from the guests, who even dressed up like real cowboy, like PDG Mustain Sjadzali and Ann Sari. Who came a long way from Jakarta, Bali, Singapore fighting the bad traffic and lost roads just to get into the party. We really are appreciate it, because of you all we are able to celebrate successfully. Thank you. Right at Idul Fitri of 2006. 16 houses were burned down in Kampong Cipayung Girang, Desa Cipayung-Megamendung, Bogor.
Having received financial assistance from RC Farmington-Centerville, RC Blackwood, LDSC, Fam. Lehmann from RC Blackwood and our Club members Rtn. Till Freyer and Rtn. Ben vande Kaa, Rotary Club Bogor provided in total IDR 105,500,000 for houses reconstruction. The project successfully finished, designed and supervised by our members, Rtn. Taufik Nugraha and Ben vd Kaa. Since 2003 Rotary Club Bogor provides assistance as occasional gifts to the orphanage. It was established in Sentul-Bogor by Mrs.Mavis Pardede and home for 35 children with the ages range from one day to six years. They come from Nias Island(Tsunami affected), Ambon (conflict’s victims) and from single mothers (rapevictims). Rotary Club Bogor donated a big refrigerator and IDR 5 million to furnish the in-house kindergarten the orphanage set up for their own children. Occasionally, we provide the children with Christmas and/or Easter gifts.
When it received donation from some potential private companies, they moved to Gunung Geulis, built a totally new two stair-house. Rotary Club Bogor in cooperation with RC Blackwood and RC Morisset in Australia (thanks to our PP Murray Scoble) contributed in ceramic flooring at the basement and some furnitures. Tajur Halang, a little village at the slope of Gunung Salak,is a community project with the intention to develop this village in different kind of ways,so the profit of the improvement will benefit all the inhabitants of the village.
The first project is already done, the clean water project with the help of LDSC, a church from the USA. After than we provided the whole village with garbage bins. Via a Matching Grant with our sister club in Utah we could provide the villagers with a banana planting project, followed by the production of emping (ching made of Gnetum gnemon). Further we found out via the medical doctor in the village,Dr. Ali, that ca. 60% of the villagers are infected with one or another form of TBC. There is already a WHO program in the form of medication but one of the causes is that the villagers kept the goats against the houses, so all the windows and doors were always closed; the lack of concrete or ceramic floors creates a high humidity in the houses. In combination with other factors this was one of the important things to eliminate. The Werk group ’72, settled in Jakarta, provided the money for 40 stalls and the Rotary Club Bogor provided 350 meters linear fence. We hope that by this way the villagers will open their windows and doors and reduce the occurrence of TBC in this village. We have already showed the villagers Kampung Naga as a good example how to implement this knowledge in their own village. With the help of the Rotary Club Dubai and the Rotary Club Bogor, in 2001/2002, we provided villagers with a micro credit. We lend them a certain amount of money and over a period of two years the participants, so it circulates continually in this village. Nowadays there are 96 farmers growing 83 types of ornamental plants in that area with the training provided and supervised by our senior member, Rtn. Dr. Benny Tjia. Their products have been delivered continuously over Bogor city through the extended hands of around 72 people who bought the plants from the farmers. With the improvement of this village it will have an “oil on water” effect to the other villages around them. "Reach within to Embrace Humanity" Rotary year is almost over..but not with the spirit of all The Rotary Club Bogor's Rotarians.
To prepare entering the new Rotary year "Peace through Service" we are undergo to start brand new project - Building toilets for elementary school in Bogor, as pilot project we start with 2 (two) schools which are SDN Carang Pulang I and SDN Carang Pulang II. This project is supported by Sandiaga Uno Foundation and Siemens company, who is been our project partner for quite some time now. This toilets project will be follow by Sanitation Education which we are going to call "Clean Project" conducted by our young generation Rotaractor Buitenzorg Bogor. One of the continuous project of Rotary Club Bogor. The operations were carried out in Jakarta firstly via Sinar Pelangi Foundation. Before the operations the babies and children stayed overnight in SinarPelangi and after the operation they stay there for few days to recover. The Rotary Club Bogor works in this field of charity together with Sinar Pelangi Foundation and the Dutch Foundation Liliane Foundation. Up to 2006 we had sent 17 children to Sinar Pelangi with satisfying results.
On 2007, Rotary Club Bogor has brought over 100 children to Yayasan Citra Baru with the support of RC Jakarta-Metropolitan as well as of some individuals. Cash donation from Oregon Rotarians has been delivered by Rotary Club Bogor to Yayasan Kenari in Bogor which works on the same project. A private company in Jakarta donated some amount of money via RC Jakarta Metropolitan which developed cooperation with Taiwanese surgeons to help more children. Rotary Club Bogor again sent 9 children in October 2008. The project run successfully thanks to Rtn. Taufik Nugraha who is very dedicated searching children in needs and bring them to the clinic. On 17th – 18th of June, 2011 Rotary Club of Bogor together with Yayasan Kenari and Family Medical Center hospital in Ciluar, Bogor held a Social Event on doing Cleft Lip Surgery for babies and teenagers who comes from Bogor marginal areas. The Social Event supposedly aimed to get 50 children operated, but only 32 showed up with their parents and relatives. Rotary Club of Bogor itself sent eight babies and one 17 year old teenager. Unfortunately one baby failed to get into operation table, as he diagnosed TBC. For this matter Rotary Club of Bogor will handle this littleone and arrange another operation for him after he’s cure from his illness. The other patients came from Yayasan Kenari collaborated with Bogor Kabupaten Health Department. The total who got operated is 28 children, as another 3 babies got rejected too for various health reasons. The doctors who did the operations are volunteers from YPPCBL Bandung and dr. Evi from FMC hospital. Yayasan Kenari is funding this surgery with the help from Later Days Saint Charity (LDSC), Mr. Melvin Meredith and Mrs. Meredith from LDSC Utah, USA were there to witness the surgery process. For two days in a row, they did this mass operation. For a token of appreciation, Rotary Club of Bogor invited the doctors, staffs of FMC Hospital and Yayasan Kenari to a thankful dinner on Friday night at Bogor Permai Restaurant (the oldest and one of the best restaurants in Bogor city). Rotary Club of Bogor since 2006 has done this kind of Cleft Lip surgery for children and we are determine continuously to do so, a discussion with FMC hospital director, dr. Rosalina has been occurred that in the future Rotary Club of Bogor plans to pursue this collaboration to get as many as children getting operated there, by the help of Rotary Club of Bogor donator, Rotary International and other personal benefactors. Rotary Club of Bogor also would thank Ibu Rika Salmons the founder of Yayasan Kenari and its kindhearted members, Mr. Melvin Meredith & Mrs. Meredith from LDSC, also the owners of FMC hospital, dr. Yuli, dr. Evi, the FMC staffs, all the doctors from YPPCBL Bandung, and everyone who has work so hard to help these children operated and hopefully in the future they can live normally and earn a better life. The Rotary Club Bogor had been involved in Rotary Polio Eradication programs since 2008. End Polio is Rotary International project that meaning to eradicate polio in all places in the world
Started in 2006-2007 Rotary Clubs in Indonesia began to involve in this world End Polio project and build their own local End Polio programs. Rotary Club Bogor use this opportunity to support the Vaccination days, with the help of local communities, our club Bogor members, encouraging families in Bogor area to come and bring their children to the designated “Pos Pins”, help monitored the activities and provided the children with balloons, the local polio workers with T-shirts and support End Polio banners. International Garment Training Center the International Garment Training Center (IGTC) in Sentul Bogor, a unique project in Indonesia. It was started in 1999, 238 young people from disadvantaged families were trained free of charge in six months-course andplace in industrial jobs. The project constantly grew, a foundation was set up in2001, enough funds was raised to purchased one hectare of land near Bogor and extensive facilities i.e. three fully equipped ‘mini factories’, five classrooms, computer lab, auditorium and dormitories for 192 students. Total 240 students study at IGTC at any onetime, total 360 per year. The original concept remains unchanged. Youngsters from disadvantaged families receive scholarships inc. housing and food; find IGTC helped Acehnese young people to get better knowledge, skills and become qualified workers in the garment industry. In the area of Indramayu the level of poverty, the literacy rate and the average of attended school years are much lower compared to West Java or Indonesia in general. International Garment Training Center had also supported young people of Indramayu. For this later project, IGTC got fully coorperation from the Ministry of Women Empowerment, ILO-International Labor Organization, YKAI (Yayasan KesejahteraanAnak Indonesia) and the International Women Organizations. International Garment Training Center supported the Indramayu girls until 2006. International Garment Training Center is no more Rotary Club Bogor’s focus to allow it to develop on its own feet into a more professional institution while in part continuing its mission to help disadvantaged people. Scholarships for Tsuname affected students Rotary Club of Bogor supported 6 Acehnese students in Gunadarma University and ISTN Jakarta, and 2 elementary school students in Cibinong to pay their school fees, transportation and living costs plus pocketmoney. The scholarships ranged from IDR400,000 to 750,000 per month. Unfortunately, we must have terminated in supporting them since July 2007 due to lack of sponsor. Most of them have graduated. Scholarship for Young Girl in Bogor Rotary Club of Bogor supported a young girl, Irmawati (18) in Bogor who was originally supported by Plan International. This Organization left Bogor and Jakarta and her individual sponsor in Tokyo, Japan asked us to help her. So Rotary Club of Bogor helped Irmawati and provided her a vocational training in hair cutting and make-up. Irmawati has found a job in a hair salon annex training center with success and gets her own salary to support her family. Scholarship for nineteen Junior High School students inBogor
Joined with our sincere partner RC Farmington-Centerville in USA, our application for a Matching Grant (MG) to RF has been approved this midyear 2008. Just before the school year began, we selected 19 children from the very poor families as the scholarship recipients. It will continue for three years, at least until the children finish their Junior High School. The assistance covers the school fees, books, stationeries, school uniform and transportation cost. |
